Adding the ornament to the temple
· The rose, we have just created, wil now be placed upon the middle-columns of the front-row. Before we continue, we will make some changes to the scene TMPLCSG2.SCN: · Step 1 - hide the back-row of the temple including columns and banisters · Step 2 - remove all CSG-conjunctions on the front-column-row using the command »csg« | »remove csg«. After you have chosen this command, click on the top-box in the front and repeat this step on the three front-cylinders, that modify the box (do not forget to select »remove csg« before you click on each of the cylinders !!!). · Step 3 - merge the ornamet-scene-file using the command »File« | »Merge.scn«. The ornament will then be placed somewhere in the vicinity of the coordinate- systems center. · Step 4 - switch to the front-view (if it is not the current viewport) and maximize it (if it isn't). · Step 5 - deselect all objects (ALT+U) and select the ornament, clicking on »selection« | »area« and drawing a rectangle around it. |
· Step 6 - activate the »selection«-switch (SPACE) and translate the ornament to an appropriate position above the medium-right column.
· Step 7 - switch to the top-viewport, zoom in to a convenient magnification and align the Z-translation of the ornament in relation to the top-box. To say it simple: the front-edge of the ornaments cylinder must lie slightly outside the front-edge of the box. · Step 8 - if the position of the first ornament is correct, copy it onto the symmetric position above the middle-left-column (check, that the »selection«- switch is activated before you start copying). Creating the new CSG-group · After this, we only have to create the CSG-group anew. To do this, deselect all objects and choose the command »selection« | »object«. Now click on the three big cylinders inbetween the columns and the two cylinders of the ornaments. Check, that the »selection«-switch is activated and choose the command »csg« | »difference«. Now click on the top-box first and then on one of the selected objects. · All that is left to do, is to deselect all objects, rename the scene (e.g. "TMPLCSG3.SCN") and save it. You can now make some test-renderings if you want. Before you do this, check out the camera-position and the lights. |
